How to increase your traffic (7 or 8 ways)

Below are 6 ideal ways i can recommend to increase your traffic, that i found on a blog rate directory forum I personally recommend paying attention to them. After the 6 methods, are my additions that i posted as a reply to that post on the blog rate directory forum
1. Search engines- This is by far the most common way to gain traffic to your site. If you have opportunity to view the log files of a popular website, you will see that they derive a large portion of their daily traffic from search engines. If you want to improve your performance with the search engines, you need to study and understand how they work.

2. Number of pages on your site- This one only makes sense when you think about. The more pages your site has, the higher your traffic will be. Think about it. If you have 5 pages on your site and every visitor looks at all 5, then that equals 5 hits per visitor. If 5 people visit, that equals 25 page views and so on and so forth. Having more pages will increase your search engine traffic.

3. Optimize all your pages- If you are going for SEO, be sure you optimize all of your pages not just your home page. This ensures that your site pages are coming up under multiple search phrases and not simply just your home page. This brings in more specific types of traffic and people who are actually interested in your site which will lead to a higher conversion rate. Better optimization on each of your pages will lead to more traffic and success.

4. Domain name- If you can get keywords actually in your domain name, this can increase your search ranking and traffic as well. While it is not always possible, it is very beneficial if you can pull it off.

5. Check your log files- Once you have launched your site, be sure to watch and study your log files to see what types of keywords people are typing in to find your site. These log files will show you what search engine keywords brought people to your site and often, you will be surprised at what you see. This will help you make changes to your site to increase the traffic based on those facts taken from the log files.

6. Link popularity- A higher number of incoming links will boost your search engine rankings as well. Remember that quality of quantity is best when choosing the sites you will link share with.

What one can also do is post comments and blog on other blogs and forums and make deep links - deep links is when you use a keyword from your site as a word to embed a link to your page into.
If you post these embedded links like this one [url=http://e-z-webmaster.blogspot.com/]"SEO"[/url] then that keyword will gain more importance on your website and the search engines will be more likely to rate you highly when searches for that keyword are made. Post articles on blogs and article sites with links to your homepage in. keep the topic relevant too.
Choosing Websites that are topic related to yours will aid googles ranking method in ranking you, but linking from multitopic forums and article websites that are not directly related to your topic will not harm you too much as it used to, due to the fact that i do not believe google stupid enough to penalize you for a "product forum" referring to your site that is about "tibetan hats" - namely because a tibetan hat is also a product, and to put automated penalisations into a web ranking robot script would cause irrelevant penalizations that are in fact legitimate links in context to the website they are pointing to.

So if you use the word[url=http://siamfoundation.org/movies/] "Watch Movies Online free"[/url] for a link to your movie site, then the words "watch movies online free" might cause you to get a ranking on a search results page, and therefore, more traffic - the more keywords you control the better. tepeated use of this word as a link in various websites of high pagerank will get your search results in there.

Widgets against deep linking

Most widgets will take traffic away from you - as well as many blogrolls - when i do a search for my website using the site name the many other sites come up because that sitename is embedded in theirs as a link - so your pagerank goes up from such reciprocal linking but not in the sense of Deep Linking and other sites get to take some of your result standings (positions) through use of yout site name or link word used embedded. I sugggest that you use your sitename embedded in links on your own site too and also to embed your keywords as links to your sites in forums and other websites and blogs (comments) that receive lots of traffic - as well as including the url of your website in your profile or signature, this will increase your traffic greatly. Of course, you should also post on relevant sites that are topic related to yours, so the traffic that visits your site is optimized, and will be interested in the content of your site. Reciprocal linking is great for pagerank and also traffic (if the site linking to you displays your link visibly to a highly visited page), but it also has a disadvantage of stealing page position in the search results from you. Deep linking however also gets you in the search engines, and brings you direct traffic if posted in the right places at the right time, and on the relevant subjects. :)

Simple SEO, Quick Traffic, successful afilliate marketing

Many Seo officers are asked why they don't use their skills at obtaining high
quantitiy of web traffic to get rich with?
The answer is, of course, that an SEO officer doesn't understand,
nor has he ever studied "Marketing".
A website with thousands of visitors a day won't make money if the ads
aren't optimized; which is a job for a marketing expert.
A Marketing expert has little knowledge of SEO
(search engine optimization techniques). Rendering his optimized ads
pretty impotent due to a low flow of web traffic.
I myself, have studied both factors of this multi facetted profession
known as "web technology".
As a result, i am recieving high dividends for my
efforts in both seo and marketing using the afilliate ad marketing
technique. Here is the basic key to success as far as it has worked for
me.
1. use Web
CEO as your main tool for search engine submission.
Make a google account and write "submit url" into the google search....
log in in one tab/window to your google account, and open the "submit
url to google" page in another. The submit your page..after this you
arrive at a page with a link to "webmaster tools" if you are logged
into google already you will be forwarded to a page where your
"dashboard" is located submit the url again and then it appears on your
dashboard/control panel.
After this you must look for the link to verify the site...
click on it. The next page will lead you to the option to
verify..there will be a code or a meta tag to place in the index page
of your website and upload to the server.
once you have inserted and uploaded this verification code to your
website, click on "verify". Now you are verified you can either add a
site map or just wait a few weeks for google to start gathering
information after it has sent the google SPIDER to "crawl" your site.
you go to yahoo site search and make an account and do the same with
the url submission.
You will also be required to upload a code and verify.
Yahoo doesnt accept free entries to their directory anymore so this site
search way is the only way to get into yahoo for free anymore.

windows live has a simple "submit site" page where you can submit the
site...the new updates to windows lately has left their search engine
like a wasteland and it will take time for us to know how it works in
order for us to tune the site to msn's search criteria..more on this
later.

Before submitting , you should check that you have all the meta tags
inserted in the head of your documents on the server.

most important is to include the description, and the keyword meta tags.
Apart from this, on your index .html or index.php file (main homepage),
you should add the robots meta
i shall be posting another article soon on meta tags and how to write them.
if a meta is used in html 4 then that is how the tag should look, if it
is xml or xhtml then you should use a Break and slash at the end of the
tag like this; <(meta code here) /> (notice the space between the last dittos and the slash -
this is important as some browsers won't read the tag properly yet in
xml).

make sure the first 5 keywords in your meta tags are relevant with the
words that occur most often in your page. if you have a keyword say
"rose", but you mention variations of the word "chrysanthemum" more
often, then your keywords are wrongly tuned..if you want to attract
people looking for roses, then you must speak of roses, and not
chrysanthemums.

Next Step, is to get plenty of content up there, the more content you
have the more visitors you recieve.
Make an account with google adsense and paste your ads in the header
and navbar of the site on every new page you make. Google Adsense is
the highest paying of all afilliate marketing companies, so
you should use them as your main source of adspace usage. - Don't
forget to register for image spidering on your yahoo sitesearch and
google webmaster tools control panels too! this will get you in the
image searches. Find a free sitemap generator and upload sitemaps to
your sites too, and register them on your google and yahoo control
panels.this will get every page on the site spidered by the search
engines.
Now we have an optimized site and ads optimally placed (in another
article i shall explain proper placement of ads and optimization
thereof), we just need one more ingredient to complete the recipe to
riches.....That's right; TRAFFIC!
How can we get traffic apart from waiting for people to find us in the
search engines ( a healthy site will have maybe 40 percent of visits
come from other sources, such as referrals from, other sites' forums
etc). Well we do exactly what i just explained in brackets! we post
articles (like i am doing here) placing links to our site in the
keywords we use in our article . For example if you sell roses on your
website and want the word rose to be a keyword (not an
advisable keyword as there are many competing sites, but anyway just
for an example, to save me going into detail on "non competitive
keywords"). To optimize your traffic for the keyword rose, you must
post many posts and articles which have links to your site embedded in
the word rose, roses, rose-flower, buy roses etc. you can not post html
on all forums or article sites, so choose carefully the ones that let
you post your links embedded into text.

Go to Social Bookmarks and get their script and insert it into your
pages too, it will let visitors be able to bookmark your
pages with all their favourite social networking sites such as myspace,
diggit, stumbleupon etc. post links to your websites in your profile
and on your profile pages of social networks such as facebook,
myspace, hi5 etc. make thousands of friends and this will bring traffic
to all those social networks who some of will click on the links posted
in your profile..also links to your site coming from high ranking pages
will increase your importance with google pagerank. Google only classes
links from related websites (topic related) as valid, but i reckon that
social networks link to all websites in the world, so google would be
silly if they didn't make such sites valid as a "related" incoming link

Blog and post articles in such a manner on hundreds of sites, forums
and social networks. Use blogger, wordpress and forums.

posts on forums that have immense readerships (reply to posts to topics
that have had thousands of people reading are good to choose and reply
to posting your links, this will ensure some clicks if the post was a
popular one).

If you use this recipe and a couple of other hints and tips i have on
my seo blog i guarantee that within 3 months you will see traffic and
maybe even a google cheque within a few months after.

Apart from this if you have google adsense account then with blogger
and yahoo 360, you can post ads and make money. I have 16 blogs which i
post on and make money with also use to "deep link" (which is the act
of posting links of your keywords in forums/blogs etc to get lots of my
keywords linking to my site from elsewhere)

Deep Linking

Here is an example how to do Deep Linking, which is believed to affect at least google's pagerank level on your website. Deep Linking is to use key search terms that you wish to be related to your domain adress (keywords), whilst blogging, and to insert links into them that point to your website.

For example, if your website is about Occult & UFOs, then you could insert a link pointing to your website in either of those words, whilst posting them in a Blog. you can use any keywords you think are related to both your content (keywords) and the name of your domain. A website about Buddhism, for example, could use the words "Buddha, Buddhism, Buddhist, Dharma, Karma, Enlightened, enlightenment, four noble truths, eightfold path, Buddhist Forums, Vajrayana, Mahayana, Theravada/Hinayana Ramakian". Another thing you can do is to use bold or italic or underlined script in those links to increase their weight with the search engines.
The Blog below is a different way to "Deep Link" - this time i am linking outwards to a blog that has a google pagerank of five (quite high). If you link to high pagerank websites (with related content to yours, or some kind of relation at least to the article you are writing), and even better, if those websites link to yours, then it will help to push your own pagerank up higher, apart from that it will bring you a lot more visitors in the long run, both from referrals from the other sites that link to you (see my post about reciprocal linking), as well as from increased amount of surfers finding you as a result of google and Co. giving you higher ranking and placement in the search results. The last method for deep linking, is within your own website. It is important for words in your content to have anchors (links) leading to other pages withing your website (or even another paragraph within the same page) that are related to that word in their content.For example, if i use the word "deep linking" in a future post, i could insert a link in the words leading to this post, which is entitled deep linking.
This increases the importance of my blog for the word deep linking , if i blogged a thousand blogs on high ranking forums and inserted the word deep link with links feeding to this blog, then it will be very likely that i got on the first page of many search engines for this search keyword.
(So goes the theory, at least, in truth there are many other factors which one has to take into consideration whilst we are tuning your website, but do not panic, i will get round to all aspects of the game as time goes on.
Lastly but not least is to search for link exchanges with other websites - which is called reciprocal-linking. Reciprocal Links are covered in a previous post.

Reciprocal Links and the importance they have

Reciprocal links are very useful when it comes to getting rated well by search engines, especially by google.
Since google's "Jagger" Update, the incoming and outgoing links to and from your homepage are scrutinized for their theme-relatednesss.
By "theme-relatednesss", i mean that if the websites linking to you and that you link to have a certain similarity as far as profession, content and topic orientation are concerned.
If there is a relation between the linked websites, then google will increase the importance it lends to your website.
The "ranking" of the sites linking to you is also of relevance.
Try to get well ranked, topic/theme related websites to link to you.
Become Master Of Google, Yahoo, Msn And More
Another way to get yourself linked up is to do "Deep Linking"; Deep Linking is made by posting in different blogs and forums that have a high page rank and come up top in the search engines for important keywords. Whilst posting, you should think of which keywords you wish google & Co. to create a connection with (some websites get top ranking for their chosen keywords because of this) - google & Co. will connect your site with a word that occurs as a link to you coming from many other important web pages. For example, if you have a website about making money online, called, let's say "johnchow.com" and you post 3000 posts on different blogs, using the word "make money online", then it is most likely that this website wil recieve a top ranking when people use this keyword in a search. So deep link as much as you can, even if it doesn't get your google ranking a booster, at least it will bring traffic to your website from the people who visit those blogs and forums! And as we know, traffic is the most important thing of all needed to make a decent amount of conversions when it comes to afilliate marketing techniques.

First Steps to Optimization

Getting into Google, Yahoo and Co.

Welcome to my SEO Blog for ameteur diy webmasters.
How to get in top ten of google search results?..... This first post of the gettingingoogle blog assumes you already have a website online, but can't seem to appear in your keyword searches in google yahoo, aol msn live search and company. This is because having a good domain name and being online does not mean that you will be visited and recognized by the search engines. If you don't wish to spend a large sum of money paying someone to do this optimization for you, and wish to get in the "Google Charts top ten" , then all you have to do is simply follow the things i shall indicate in this post. I guarantee you that if you do these things, you shall arrive in the first page results of google search for your chosen three search words (main keywords).

Keywords

firstly you have to consider what keywords you are going to use... Many people decide their keywords before the creation of the content of the website. For example if you had a restaurant serving italian food with live classical music you might be able to call it figaro.com for a domain name.
So what keywords would you think are important for such a domain name and type of business (this is what you have to consider to understand your choice of keywords properly)?
If you want people looking for an Italian restaurant or simply a restaurant with live music then you may not need the word "Figaro" as a keyword... how many people interested in the word figaro will be looking for an Italian Restaurant? and how many people on the www will be searching fo italian restaurants not using the word Figaro at all?
the latter case is obviously the greater number of people.
So what may be recommendable is to use a keyword that attracts people interested in your product or info that you are presenting.
Don't forget that ten interested visitors will bring more sales or positive results than 100 people who accidentally land on your website but actually were looking for something else.
This is called matching your marketing to your optimization methods, and the choices and decisions you take and make should be related to what your objective is.
This is why there is no real single method to easily "trick" the search machines into considering you favourably in their rating methods.
The reaon i put the word trick in "" ditto marks is that there is no "trick" really.. the only trick to really obtaining a successful website is to get a high ranking through original quality and topic-related (true to the topic) text content.
The website must offer interest to the public too as if a thousand people a day land there only to find some tricky dicky dishonest kind of cash swindle then they won't return and you will only acheive infamy.
So to be concise again;
Whatever your keywords should be, the content text in the body should have a well balanced quantity of those keywords occuring regularly in the body text.
Especially at the beginning and end of the page.
if the main keyword is the first and last word on the page that is optimal too.
I personally decide what i am going to write in the body first, then i make the title of page and keywords after.
This is because it is easier to find the most recurring words ion the text then use those as my keywords.
If i want to attract people for a certain keyword then i make a special page especially written to attract attention to the search engines for that word.
for example on my website sak-yant.com i noticed that the keyword "Buddhist tattoos" brought me no search results..so i made a page with title , keywords, and content containing the word "Buddhist tattoos" in different variations.
alt texts for images were also labeled with titles such as buddha tattoo, or buddhist tattooing.
i then waited 3 days and then made a search for the words "Buddhist tattoos"
at that time i was number one in yahoo and number 4 in google on the search results.

So it is evident that you should either write yoour text content thinking about what keywords you wish to use.In order to think about wwhat kerywords to use i recommend trying to think what words you would use to search for an italian restaurant, try with and without live band included in the search (marketing says that someone searching for one with live music will not go to a restaurant without a band, but a customer searching for just a restaurant may indeed be enchanted upon discovering one that has live music) - catch both search options.

Marketing method is important to take into consideration.
If you ask friends, family, your kids to do some www searches for you on italian restaurants and restaurants with live music and take note of what words they use to search with.
It is important to study which words different people use to search with.
If your website is already online, then you can make an account with google and sign up fopr their webmaster tools.
This is important to do as you can then verify your site with google and get your whole site mapped by their search engine (i shall explain how to do this with yahoo amd msn later too).
Also once on your control panel and once verified, you can check which keywords and search terms have been used to arrive at your site with and see how you ranked!
This is an essential bit of free knowledge from the ever improving webmaster tools from Google.
This will help you to understand what terms people are using to find you and which terms arent working.
I normally then retouch my optimization and tailor my keywords and content text according to what terms i feel are the most used (the google webmaster tools tell you this too).
